Three Pivoting Options
West Coast Rod Holder Pivoting: Key Points
By picking the right mounting style, you’ll keep your deck organized and your rods secure, whether you’re trolling offshore, drifting inland waters, or running multiple lines. Each mount type works seamlessly with our pivoting and rotation options, so you never have to sacrifice one feature for another.
Overview
Non-Pivoting
Minimal adjustment—A fixed vertical angle, determined by how you mount it to the boat.
Single Pivoting
Quick single adjustment—A single pivot point offering 15° increments and a 5-inch arm (the only holder with this compact arm).
Double Pivoting
Exclusive multi-pivot adjustment—Two pivot points, available in 10″, 14″, or 18″ arm lengths.
Non-Pivoting
Non-Pivoting is best if you’re certain you won’t adjust rod height once on the water or if you favor total stability over flexibility. It’s popular among anglers who fish the same methods and waters regularly. You can still pair it with a rotation base if you need side-to-side movement, but vertically, Non-Pivoting offers the simplest, most maintenance-free solution for your boat.
- Key Feature: A fixed vertical angle, determined by how you mount it to the boat.
- How It Works: If you install it level, it remains level, If you angle it upward or downward at setup, it stays locked in that orientation.
- Ideal For: Anglers who rarely adjust rod height in a sturdy design.
- In a nutshell: Simple, stable, and no fuss—you set the tilt once and forget it.
Single Pivoting
Single Pivoting is ideal if you want moderate vertical adjustability without a large arm extension and still want 7 inches of travel. It strikes a balance between the no-fuss nature of Non-Pivoting and the extensive range of Double Pivoting. For anglers who occasionally alter rod angles—especially on smaller or mid-sized boats—Single Pivoting’s shorter arm and easy 15° increments make it a solid, user-friendly choice. Single pivot can also be paired with 360 degree rotation.
- Feature: A single pivot point offering 15° increments and a 5-inch arm (the only holder with this compact arm).
- How It Works: Tilt the rod up or down by pulling a spring loaded pin at the pivot joint, the 5" arm keeps the holder close to the boat, conserving deck space
- Ideal For: Anglers who want moderate vertical adjustments but don’t need an extended arm and those fishing in changing conditions, where a quick up/down tweak is enough.
- In a Nutshell: Compact yet versatile: great for smaller boats or if you occasionally adjust rod height without going to an extreme tilt range.
Double Pivoting
Double Pivoting is best for anglers who need maximum vertical control—like charter captains, multi-line setups, or those fishing in wide ranging water conditions. If you frequently stagger rods at various angles to prevent tangles, need to clear tall rails, or just want the freedom to tweak your rods as conditions change, Double Pivoting’s two-point tilt system gives you the ultimate in adjustability, including moving your rod inside your boat to help land your catch.
- Feature: Two pivot points, available in 10", 14", or 18" arm lengths.
- How It Works: Each pivot adjusts in discrete steps (often ~15° per slot) by pulling the spring loaded pin. You can set the rod extremely high, extremely low, or at multiple angles in between—useful for staggering multiple rods.
- Ideal For: Anglers needing maximum up/down range—e.g., clearing rails, outboards, or bigger obstacles. Charter captains, multi-rod setups, or big-water fishermen seeking the widest vertical flexibility all but eliminating tangles.
- In a Nutshell: Most precise vertical control—raise or lower rods at two separate pivot joints. Despite longer arms, the deck footprint remains the same, so you gain reach without sacrificing space creating the best presentation possible to increase your catch rate.
West Coast Rod Holder Advantage
- Natural Cradle: Prevents tipping or pivoting with added bungee cord security
- Quick Grab: Keeps rods accessible when the action heats up.
- Secure Fit: Ensures any angle rod positioning to maximize your presentation.
In a Nutshell
Pivoting is all about vertical rod angle control—how high or low your rod sits in the holder. Whether you want a fixed angle (Non-Pivoting) or a fully adjustable setup (Single or Double Pivoting), we have an option to fit your fishing style. By fine-tuning the rod’s tilt, you can keep lines clear of obstacles, respond to wave action, and match your preferred trolling or drifting approach.
